About us

In 2006, St Michael’s Catholic Small School finally bought St George’s Chapel, the building which has housed the school since its foundation in 1998. The future of the school is now secure, but it faces the challenge of adapting, modernising and extending the premises.

The main building, which is the Victorian chapel, complete with organ and balcony fitted with the original pews, is Grade II listed. This now provides an assembly area, secondary classrooms and a tiny chapel.

Permanent development of this part of the building is subject to strict conservation control.

The original premises were extended to provide a hall, kitchen, toilets and offices. At the moment these rooms house the nursery and primary sections.

It is hoped eventually to extend this section.

The school is adjacent to Victoria Gardens, one of Truro’s finest parks. Pupils accompanied by teachers use the ballgame areas and play equipment on all dry morning and lunch breaks.

In addition, there is a small, secure and pleasant paved area at the side entrance, mainly used as a nursery and infant play area.

Computer facilities

The assembly area, always called the “horseshoe,” remains in its original state.
